Many people - if they're honest - find the
complexity of Bach's music hard to comprehend. As an antidote,
this talk will delve into Bach's counterpoint and will tell you
all you need to know about fugue, inversion, augmentation,
diminution, imitation, why it is exciting, and how it energises
Bach's music. There’ll also be a brief exposé on
triple-invertible counterpoint!
This light-hearted talk will be
iIllustrated with live musical examples from the Well-Tempered Clavier and the Double
violin concerto, played by members
of the Corelli Orchestra.
