Bach visited Berlin in 1719 to buy a new harpsichord and whilse there met the Margrave of Brandenburg. The harpsichord has long since disappeared; but fortunately the concertos that Bach sent to Brandenburg did not suffer the same fate.  Two of Bach’s Brandenburgs are here contrasted with other music that the two might have enjoyed in Berlin.
