Bach St John Passion
A rare opportunity to hear Bach’s St
John Passion is its original form.
The Corelli Orchestra will be joining
forces with eight voices from the Glevum Consort in the first
performance of Warwick Cole’s new performing edition of
the Passion.
All of the solos will be taken by members
of the chorus, restoing the original balance between orchestra,
soloist and choir.
The performance will follow Bach’s
last performance of the Passion which differs from the ‘normal’
version widely performed. Details of scoring, text and and
occasionally movements are altered, giving a fresh approach to
the work.
