Jonathan Morgan

Flute

Jonathan Morgan has had a long and varied career as a flautist. He read music at Durham University, followed by a postgraduate year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied baroque flute with Stephen Preston. He has specialized in early flutes: playing Renaissance flute in BBC TV Shakespeare plays, and in Monteverdi's Vespers at the Proms and Flanders festivals; playing Baroque flute with the Consort of Musicke at the Proms; and playing Classical flute with the Hanover Band. He moved to Gloucestershire about ten years ago, and now divides his time between teaching (modern and baroque flutes, and lecturing for the Open University) and playing (as principal flute, and occasional timpanist, for the Corelli Orchestra).
