Mark Baigent
Oboe
Mark Baigent specialises in performing on
period oboes, playing repertoire from the baroque to the
present day.
He regularly freelances with the Sixteen,
the Hanover Band, Scholars Baroque Ensemble, the Gabrieli
Consort and the English Baroque Soloists with whom he undertook
the year-long Bach Cantata Pilgrimage, the recordings of which
are being released over the next five years. He is also a
highly experienced chamber musician and has given performances
of Mozart and Beethoven’s octets with the Orchestra of
the Age of Enlightenment. Mark has toured extensively
throughout Europe, America and the Far East, has broadcast on
Radio 3 & 4, Classic FM and recently appeared in the BBC’s
docu-drama ‘Eroica’.
This year (2006) Mark has been working
with artist and composer Richard Moult, performing and
recording new works for voice oboe and piano. These were
recently performed at ‘Le Chantier’ alternative
music festival in Paris.
