Bach weekend
June 6-8, 2008

Corelli Concerts is promoting a new festival dedicated to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The first weekend will take place from 6-8 June 2008, and will feature cantata performances by soprano Evelyn Tubb, an illustrated talk by BBC Radio 3’s Simon Heighes, and chamber and choral performances.

The aim is to experience Bach’s music in the context of music by composers he knew and performed and will focus in part on Bach’s early works. There will be talks for all the family on ‘Demistifying Bach’ including a children’s illustrated talk on invertible counterpoint! The afternoon slots on the Saturday and Sunday will be given over chamber concerts entitled ‘Bach after Lunch’. See you there!

Email Corelli Concerts if you want to be on the e-newsletter for the Bach weekend.

Cheltenham’s Pittville Pump Room reprieved

Regulars of the Corelli Orchestra series at the Pittville Pump Room will be relieved to hear that common sense has prevailed. The Borough Council will not, after all, but putting the building to commercial use. At the time or writing it is understood that the Pump Room will be still available to cultural events.

Since the consultation exercise took much longer than had been intended - the announcement was made some four months late - our plans have been delayed. We very much regret that as a result, it has not been possible for the Corelli Orchestra to run a series at the Pump Room for the 07/08 season.

Details of the new 2008/9 season will be advertised shortly.
