A busy time in the cathedral: March 13 sees a concert of Part 2 of Handel’s Messiah with the Cathedral choir under Adrian Partington interspersed by mediations by John Newton. March 20 is Gloucester Choral Society’s St Matthew Passion with James Gilchrist as evangelist. And an early start on March 21 to accompany the Cathedral Choir again in a Mozart Mass for the morning Eucharist. 8.30am for a rehearsal is rather early!

William Hayes in the can
February 2010

Four fun days spent in Cheltenham rehearsing and recording music by William Hayes, ex-Gloucester chorister and Professor of Music at Oxford. All of the music is recorded here for the first time, and includes two cantatas (with Evelyn Tubb), two concerti grossi, the harpsichord concerto and a very fine trio sonata. Grateful thanks to our excellent engineer Paul Arden-Taylor of Dinmore Records, and to the owners of a very fine C18th-century harpsichord which was kindly loaned for the occasion.
